What a nail biter!

Awesome effort to win BT Caledonia North Bowl
Firstly, apologies for the confusion over on twitter with the score, I gave Aberdeen University 2 points more than they actually scored which gave things a different complexion during the game. I was having a total sulk thinking we needed an extra score to win and it was only after Tom's try that the assistant referee confirmed the score.
Now that's out of the way.........
What a game!
I was serving drinks in the bar as the game started, looked up and saw Uni scoring in the corner. Asked the worthies watching from the sofas if they got the conversion and was told that they did, but it actually came back off the post.
That's where the confusion crept in.
Having spent the first 15 camped in our own half under pressure from Uni, our steady approach paid dividends on 22 minutes when Ross Mellis cut a terrific line to score under the posts. Easy conversion for John Mann.
Uni scored in the opposite corner on the half hour but missed the conversion. A bit of indiscipline a few minutes later allowed them to convert a penalty and take a 7-13 lead.
They had a player yellow carded before the half ended and we managed to waste a scoring opportunity, failing to make the most of the extra man.
It was important we got the first score of the second half but it was Uni who extended their lead with another good try on their left wing.
Ten minutes to go and we were looking the stronger and fitter side with multiple subs in the forwards giving us real drive.
A 5 metre scrum and we drove for the line, Tom Bannerman peeling off the back to score. He's got a fantastic scoring record this season.
Agonisingly John's kick came back off the upright. 6 points in it with 7 to play.
Only 2 on the clock and Peachy made a phenomenal score to put us in touching distance and John's kick got us over the line. Brilliant. Just brilliant. So happy for everyone.
We left a lot of points on the field but all credit to Uni, they played very well and made us fight hard for the win.
Thanks to all the match officials for a very well marshalled game. Hope they have a great time at the Highland Rugby Referee Society dinner tonight. And thanks to Mike Monro for making the trip to present the trophy.
