After what seems like an eternity we finally have the green light to start our project.
A lot of work has been going on in the background in the last few weeks to make sure we have satisfied all the pre-start requirements of our major funders and we are delighted to announce we now have the go-ahead to start the project.
Club President John Scott said "This is fantastic news for our club and our community. This has been quite a stressful process at times and those involved have had a steep learning curve to get up to speed on things like funding, proect tendering processes, etc, but I'm delighted that we have now closed off all our outstanding actions and have been given the thumbs up from our funders for our project."
"This project represents a significant milestone for the development of our club as we head towards our centenary year, and is an important enhancement to the availability of sports facilities in our area.Everyone will benefit from the investment we are making."
"I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has put in considerable time and effort to get the project off the ground. Fantastic effort all round."
Site set up is expected to start this coming Monday 9th September with delivery of site fencing and contractor equipment. Next week should also see the start of partial demolition and enabling groundworks.
The project itself will deliver a modern, fit-for-purpose facility with double the number of changing facilities - including privacy changing and showers - and double the floor space in the social area. It will also provide disabled access and expanded kitchen facilities.
Construction is expected to last into the new year with beneficial use expected by the end of February 2020.
