Read on to find out what's covered, what's not, and what you need to do to ensure you protect your income.

As with every season, Scottish Rugby provides FREE personal accident insurance which covers accidental death and disablement, and our Club pays for Temporary Total Disablement cover.

It doesn't just cover players though - an insured team is deemed to comprise:

  • players (including guest players)
  • coahces and team managers
  • physiotherapist
  • team doctor/medical assistant
  • ball boys and girls

The Scottish Rugby insurance summary is contained in the attached document.

The Temporary Total Disablement cover that our Club pays for provides for temporary loss of earnings arising from a rugby-related injury. The benefit is payable to the player and is calculated based on evidence of paid income. The player must be wholly unable to undertake his or her usual occupation as a result of the injury.

The policy provides a weekly benefit is £300 per week or weekly wage, whichever is less, and is payable after the first six weeks (the ‘deferment period’) following the date of injury, continuing for a maximum of 98 weeks.

The important question you need to ask yourself is "does this provide me with enough cover?"

This is especially true for those of you who are self-employed (and that includes many of our players!).

So please have a read of what cover is provided and decide if you need more.

Feel free to have a hunt around the various price comparison websites to find the right deal for you.
